The start of a new season is powerful. It doesn’t just signal the shift from one weather pattern to the next…it is an opportunity to refresh your body, mind, and spirit. As the weeks and months of a season drag on, you might find yourself in a rut or struggling to focus on your purpose. A new season is a reminder that a fresh chapter is just beginning! It makes it easier to bring extra attention to your goals, embrace a new attitude, and look towards the future with optimism. However, sometimes it can be difficult to transition from one season to the next. After all, you don’t want to bring over any of that emotional baggage from the previous season. Thankfully, there are plenty of new age tools that can be used for transitional times.
Start the New Season by Cleansing Your Home
Moving from one season to another means it is time to cleanse, cleanse, cleanse. The first day of fall is September 22nd and that means there is no better time to start thinking about how you will refresh your home. In order to make the transition from summer to fall (or any season to the next season) … it is important to clear away anything that is no longer serving you and welcome in positivity, openness, and safety. There are many different ways to cleanse your home. For instance, you could open all of the windows and doors on the first day of a new season. This signals that you are releasing the past and are welcoming in the future.
Another way to start the new season is to cleanse your home using some new age tools. Selenite and black tourmaline can be used together to clear any unwanted negative energies from the previous season. The black tourmaline helps to absorb heavy energies and the selenite purifies and lifts the space energetically. Alternatively, smoke cleansing is extremely effective. Palo santo can be used to remove negative energies from your home and sage smudging can be an effective ritual to cleanse and promote healing. Incense smoke is another effective way to cleanse.
Focus on Calming Techniques for Transitional Times
In some ways, a new season is exciting. In other ways, it can seem overwhelming. Maybe there are a lot of responsibilities and events coming up in the next few months. Or perhaps you feel a lot of pressure to get things right this time. One way to make the transition positive all the way around is to utilize different calming techniques. Keep in mind that what works for one person may not work as effectively for another…so find what works most effectively for you.
One calming technique to try is mindful breathing. Breathwork can be extraordinarily beneficial and help tackle feelings of stress and anxiety. It can also make you feel more grounded and connected to your body. So, make time to try out different breathing exercises as needed. Start your day with a few minutes of intentional breathing or use breathing techniques as a coping mechanism when you begin to feel overwhelmed. Remember, your breath is powerful. Taking time to breathe with intention can dramatically shift your mood and mindset.
Another calming technique for transitional times is meditation. There are countless physical and emotional benefits associated with meditation. Plus, you can really customize it and tailor the practice to your needs and preferences. Some people meditate in silence for a few minutes and try adding one extra minute per day. Others uses guided meditations to achieve that inner sense of calm and connection. It is also possible to use various crystals and new age tools in order to set a clear intention at the start of your meditation. Don’t be afraid to try different types of meditation to find what you prefer.
Use Crystals for New Beginnings and Transitions
Crystals have so many uses. They are not limited to protection or clearing away negative energy. For example, there are countless stones that can be used for times of transition – whether that has to do with a new season, starting a new job or even moving to a different city. Whenever you need a fresh start…reach for the following crystals:
- Clear Quartz. There is a reason that clear quartz is often referred to as the “Master Healer.” This crystal is cleansing but is also very programmable. Hold the stone and be clear about what you need. Keep in mind that clear quartz also amplifies the power of the other crystals you have chosen to use. So, be mindful about your choices!
- Amazonite. Another useful stone for a new season is amazonite, which is all about hope, abundance, and success. This particular crystal has a blue-green colour, which can be very soothing and calming…it also means that this stone is linked to both the heart and throat chakra. It is an ideal choice when you need assistance speaking your mind.
- Labradorite. For times of transition, labradorite is a must. This is considered to be the “Stone of Transformation,” and for good reason. It is thought to bring strength to those using it and is extremely protective. If you feel nervous about the start of a new season, meditate with labradorite each morning.
- Moonstone. Considered the “Stone of New Beginnings,” this is a wonderful crystal for anyone that wants or needs a fresh start. It makes it easier to tap into your inner strength and to feel more peaceful during times of transition. Moonstone has a very calming energy and can be useful for those that struggle with change.
Even More Ways to Welcome in a New Season
Still looking for ways to start this new season on the right foot? Other suggestions include: reciting a mantra or positive affirmation each morning related to this transitional time (For example: I welcome in this new season with love. This season will be overloaded with blessings and happiness. I am ready to refocus on my goals) or you could always light a candle with a specific intention that focuses on the season ahead. (Interested in the latter? Be sure to read the Spirit Earth Magazine article, “What is Candle Magic and How Does it Work?”) Additionally, you could add some different colours to your home décor, wardrobe, or jewellery collection. Colours associated with the season will make you feel more connected and excited for the months ahead. Do whatever you need to do to make this transitional time a positive experience.
